Nearly fell off the treadmill this morning as I got fired up about the three aspects of the Hedgehog concept. The most challenging for me is refining my "denominator." I'm as serious as a subluxation about marketing to a niche target while not excluding/marginalizing other potential chiropractic practice members. I am also moving to a location where the demographic and money is abundant for the kind of cash driven practice I envision for my particular niche. What do people have to say about forming their own Hedgehog "Trinity" and specifically, thoughts/lessons about your denominator?

Herby,
Having now explored the Hedgehog Trinity, I thought... well, new patients and as many of them as possible will drive our economic engine, but dig a little deeper, and I thought, well... all the new patients in the world won't matter if we don't give them what they are looking for. So, I guess results is the denominator. How do we get results? By linking in with the single thing we do better than anyone else in the world and the thing we are most passionate about.... the adjustment. But not just any adjustment. Truly an adjustment that is better than any other adjustment in the world. The right time, the right segment, the right person, the right force, the right direction, with the right intention. So I guess, the single denominator is mastery of the adjustment. Which we come back to over and over again on this forum. Minimize the "extras" and focus on that one thing that is common in the hedgehog trinity. The thing that you can do better than anyone else, the thing that, when done over and over again will drive your economic engine, and the thing you are most passionate about. In Good to Great, the companies who went good to great, focused on that one thing while others were looking to diversify and add more products and services. Maybe that's the obvious answer, but until we master the adjustment we will continue to seek out extras, diversify, add therapies, add add add... to justify our fees and "feel like we're doing more" or at least "feel like we're doing enough".Posted 11 months ago # -
Dr. Kelli:
Well said! I am really getting more clarity myself that success is not about a process of adding stuff, but actually is a shedding process! Clear, concise, and patient centered communication coupled with a mastery of your technique provides the denominator to go to the next level! I need to put a few pictures of hedgehog's around my office as reminders to keep a laser beam focus!
