Hi All!
I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and happy Hanukkah. I wanted to share some info about the event that we hosted this year. I have an extremely high social side of me, so in the past I had a huge problem of just giving away care and I obviously had to reign that in. So every year I let that high social side of me come out to play at our yearly Christmas party. We've done it a lot of different ways over the years but I think this year was the most successful. We always have tons of food and drink and games for the kids & adults to play. But this year one of our techs started a charity (I know... awesome) called the "Chiropractic Cares Program" which helps support families who desperately need chiropractic care but financially can't make it happen (or current patients who have temporary unemployment, etc). So this years Christmas party was set to be the kick-off for her charity. We discounted the cost of all adjustments for the day with 100% of the income from the day being donated to the charity. We scheduled the party for the last day that we were open before our Christmas rejuvee and stacked everyone in. This is the only day of the year that Dr. Jason and I adjust in the office at the same time so we basically tell the techs that there is absolutely no limit on the amount of people that they can schedule. Bring it on!!!
The day was without a doubt awesome... we broke all kinds of records in our office and raised a lot of money to fund Amber's charity. The patients really appreciated the opportunity to have an extra adjustment before Christmas and to help out people in need. She is currently working on an application process for the funds to be allocated. Once she has it all figured out I'll ask her to put a post on the forum to explain how the whole thing will work. I know she is currently thinking of this as a testing ground within our office, but she is also hoping to be able to scale it to the profession. Pretty cool.

Congratulations, Dr Kelli. Great stuff. We also had a day of giving here at our office yesterday. We "adopted" four families in need and collected gifts for the families. Patients who came in with a gift or gift certificate were given an adjustment in exchange. Since this has been a yearly event here, and since we have been telling patients about this day coming up for over a month, we also had many people bring gifts in that expected nothing in return. These four families were blessed, but so were we and our patients for getting the opportunity to participate in the giving. This was our busiest day of the year so far, but even without counting this day, it has been our busiest December, too. You can't outgive God.
Merry Christmas to all.

This year for our Holiday C.O.W. event (which ends today officially), we adopted a local children's shelter and via our COW, committed to giving a gift to every child at the shelter. When I made this decision, I didn't realize they had 54 kids!! WOW! I thought that it would be a stretch to actually achieving this, but I though "lets run with it and see what we can do". I decorated the office like a winter wonderland, printed posters, personally baked muffins and put out a table of cider and goodies every day, went business to business and door to door letting people know about our event.
I'm so overwhelmed by the generosity we've seen, by Thursday of our COW - we EXCEEDED our goal!! We not only have a gift for every child, but we have extra money left over to make a monetary donation as well! My eyes are tearing up as I type.
The interesting part - the vast majority of people who donated, were not people taking advantage of the free first visit. Just people giving out of the goodness of their hearts. At the same time, we've had quite the influx of new patients, apparently unrelated to the COW itself. I think it's just the spirit of giving and the spirit of Christmas in our office.
Just wanted to share a happy story.
