Hi I’m Dr. Frank Sovinsky, CEO of DC Mentors and co-author of The E-Myth Chiropractor.  In an earlier blog we were discussing mechanistic determinism and the concept, that is invalid, is that genes create our disease or germs create our disease or stress creates our disease.  When we look at our chiropractic practices we need to look in terms of neo-vitalism, just like we do in a patient’s health.

The gene theory would mean that somehow the chiropractor thinks they’re missing something.  Epigenetics says not so.

Epigenetics says that you can learn, you can grow, you can actually change your I.Q. and your E.Q. by training.  Get the skill sets you need, get around people that nurture that.  It’s not about a gene theory determining, it’s about your choices.

And then when it comes to the germs, somehow we think that something out there is making my business small when in fact your chiropractic business wants to grow,  when in fact you have to change the terrain.  You have to work on your business and on your chiropractic business systems and get your people in line with their training and their soft skills and their communication skills and their abilities to interact with your community.

And then the concept of stress.  Yes, there are going to be economic changes, there are going to be reimbursement changes, there are going to be all those outside-in things and stress means that the more you’re stressed the better you can get.  You can build a chiropractic business that’s viable in any economic environment, as a matter of fact, that’s your job.

So the idea that it’s determined from the outside, you reject it soundly when it comes to a person’s healthcare.  Now I want you to reject it soundly and say, “I’m taking charge of my business, I’m not allowing outside-in forces.  I’m taking charge my destiny.  I’m going to go from inside-out and take charge.”
