Bartering also leads to a great deal of confusion in your staffs’ minds and creates complexities in your financial system; not to mention the intricacies of the tax code.

By Dr. Cecile Thackeray

I have been thinking about bartering with some of my clients for their services. What do you think about this as an option for payment and exchange
Dr. J.

Dear Dr. J.
If the truth be known you might as well shoot yourself in the foot! While at first glance bartering for services may seem like a good idea for all parties concerned; the brutal fact is that the expectation is rarely if ever met! One of the two parties either the doctor or the patient ends up feeling out of exchange. This can occur from a persons perception of what their service or time is worth. Being out of exchange can lead to feelings of resentment and mistrust. Bartering also leads to a great deal of confusion in your staffs minds and creates complexities in your financial system; not to mention the intricacies of the tax code. We firmly believe that this is not an acceptable practice in a modern 4th Way practice.
